Scans!

14th September 2007 - the 12 week scan!

This is the day that it finally sunk in for Mark that we are going to have a baby together! Naturally, for us mothers is happens a bit sooner than that. The sickness and the soreness etc is a good reminder and hammers home 'BABY', but I guess for the fathers it's not really 'real' until they see the child.

My mother-in-law was convinced that Mark would cry, and we both came very close, but we didn't. We were both just really really moved. I had never expected the scan picture to be so clear! Or maybe it's only clear to us because it's our baby. Who knows?

The little nipper was in a grump though, which is understandable as the poor thing was squashed between a full bladder and a scanner, and refused to turn and face us, opting instead to moon us! Although the baby did move around a lot! And I mean LOADS! I had no idea they could move like that as this stage!

The little dance baby did has erned it the name 'Wiggle'!

16th November 2007 - the 20 week scan!

Wiggle was better behaved today, actually turning so the sonographer could get a perfect view of the spine.

True to form the wee wiggle danced and flipped about during the scan - which also means that the strange feeling I have ib my tummy ARE the baby moving as I could feel it at the same time as watching Wiggle move on the screen! Not that I really needed convincing, but it's nice to know it's not all in my head as poor Mark hasn't been able to feel the kicks yet.

We saw babys heart beating, the stomach and bladder, spine, profile of the face, arms and hands, legs and feet, and even saw babys mouth open as Wiggle considered sucking the old thumb, but opting not to at the last moment!

We were asked if we wanted to check the gender, but opted not to, settling instead to know that baby was alive and well - which certainly seems to be the case!

We got our scan photos, this one showing baby led back, facing upwards, head back, with a hand resting on tummy. Very chilled out!
